Police rescue four kidnapped hostages, arrest 17 for murder in Imo, Ebonyi States

Nigeria Police Force has achieved significant success in its efforts to combat crime, rescuing four kidnapped hostages in Imo State and arresting 17 suspects for murder in Ebonyi State.

According to the Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in Imo State, police operatives attached to the Imo State Command executed a daring rescue operation, liberating four kidnapped hostages and recovering one Ak-47 rifle, one Ak-47 magazine, and 21 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition. Two kidnappers were neutralized during the operation.

In Ebonyi State, police operatives arrested 17 suspects in Enohia Itim village, Afikpo LGA, for the murder of Uromchi Okorocha, who was accused of witchcraft and spiritual killings.

The suspects took the law into their own hands, killing and burning the victim before the police arrived.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, condemned the act of jungle justice and urged citizens to report suspected crimes to the authorities.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, justice, and creating a safe environment for all.
