N1.09bn theft: Police debunks Enugu Govt account hacking rumour

Nigeria Police Force has  debunked rumours circulating online about the alleged hacking of the Enugu State Government’s official account, resulting in the theft of N1.09 billion.

According to the Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, there has been no hacking of the Enugu State Government’s account, and the allegations of theft are entirely baseless.

The case, investigated by the NPF-National Cyber Crime Centre (NCCC), was found to be a case of procurement fraud, not a cyber-breach.

The suspect has been arrested in connection with this fraud, and the funds have already been recovered.

The Enugu State Government has established comprehensive security protocols to safeguard its financial systems, in partnership with the NCCC and other government agencies.

Citizens are encouraged to verify the credibility of news sources to avoid spreading misinformation.

Adejobi, emphasized the importance of accurate reporting, stating that the police will continue to work tirelessly to prevent and investigate cybercrimes.
