Nigeria Police Force partners with international organizations to combat cross-border crimes

In a bid to strengthen its efforts in combating cross-border crimes, the Nigeria Police Force has partnered with international organizations to enhance regional and global cooperation in security and law enforcement.

According to the communique made available at the 5th Annual Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Force reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging inclusive policing strategies, advanced technology, and international cooperation to improve Nigeria’s internal security and economic prosperity.

The conference, which focused on the theme “Improving Nigeria’s internal security and economic prosperity through inclusive policing,” brought together about 170 senior police officers, including four Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, 37 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, and 120 Commissioners of Police.

Key dignitaries present at the conference included Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Inspector-General of Police, Rwanda National Police, CG Felix Namuhoranye.

The conference resolutions included prioritizing inclusive policing, establishing a COMPSTAT performance management system, increasing investment in digital policing tools, and developing forensic units in all police commands.

The Force also pledged to collaborate with international organizations to combat cross-border crimes and enhance regional and international partnerships for capacity building in security and law enforcement.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, presented certificates of attendance to all participants, including the guest speaker, Inspector-General of Police, Rwanda National Police, CG Felix Namuhoranye.
