Police rescue 13 kidnapped victims, arrest 5 suspects in nationwide crackdown

Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant successes in its ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and armed robbery across the country.

In coordinated operations conducted in Lagos and Kwara States, police operatives rescued 13 kidnapped victims and arrested five suspected armed robbers.

According to the Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on December 27, 2024, police operatives in Kwara State stormed a kidnappers’ den in the Idofin-Igbana area, rescuing 13 victims who had been held for ransom.

The kidnappers resisted arrest but were overpowered by the police, fleeing the scene with injuries.

In Lagos State, police operatives arrested two suspects, Lawan Mustapha and Aina Daniel, at Pinnacle Depot, Lekki, on December 28, 2024.

A search of the suspects yielded one double-barrel rifle, 90 live cartridges, and five model rifles.

Additionally, three suspected armed robbers were arrested at GRA Ikeja, Lagos, on the same day.

Police recovered one locally made pistol, four live cartridges, and two cutlasses from the suspects.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reiterated the Force’s commitment to ensuring public safety and security.
