Aondoakaa receives PDP certificate of return, vows to reclaim Benue in 2027

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday presented a Certificate of Return to its Benue State governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN), at the party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

Aondoakaa, a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, received the certificate following his emergence as the PDP’s flag bearer in the party’s recently concluded governorship primary election.

The former minister was accompanied to the ceremony by his running mate, Dr. Oyije Ochaekiti Ogbenjuwa, alongside prominent leaders and stakeholders of the party from Benue State.

Speaking shortly after receiving the certificate, Aondoakaa expressed gratitude to the national leadership and members of the PDP for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them that he would work diligently to justify the trust placed in him.

He pledged to lead the party to victory in the 2027 governorship election and promised to provide purposeful leadership capable of addressing the developmental challenges confronting Benue State.

“I am deeply honoured by this mandate and the confidence the party has placed in me. I assure our party members and the people of Benue State that I will work tirelessly to unite our people and ensure that the PDP returns to Government House in 2027,” he said.

The event also witnessed the presentation of a Certificate of Return to the former First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom, who emerged as the PDP Senatorial candidate for Benue North-West Senatorial District (Zone B).
Several other party candidates who emerged victorious in the party’s primaries equally received their Certificates of Return, thereby completing another critical stage in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general election.

Party leaders at the ceremony expressed optimism that the PDP remains well-positioned to reclaim power in Benue State and strengthen its representation at the National Assembly.

The presentation of the Certificates of Return is regarded as a significant milestone in the PDP’s electoral preparations, as the opposition party intensifies efforts to mobilise support and consolidate its structures ahead of the 2027 polls.
