Emmanuel Agbo is an impostor, not PDP candidate – Benue Chairman Adaji

Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN), remains the party’s authentic governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.

State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, made the clarification on Thursday in Makurdi while reacting to claims in some quarters that one Emmanuel Agbo is the PDP’s governorship candidate for the forthcoming election.

Adaji described the claim as false, fraudulent and a deliberate attempt to mislead the people of Benue State, insisting that Emmanuel Agbo is neither the party’s candidate nor has he ever been recognised by the PDP in any capacity as its governorship standard bearer.

“Any claim, publication, video or public statement suggesting otherwise is a deliberate falsehood, a calculated act of impersonation and a clear attempt to deceive the good people of Benue State.

Emmanuel Agbo is an impostor and a political con artist peddling and sponsoring fake news for selfish and mischievous reasons,” the chairman said.

He urged media organisations, social media platforms and members of the public to disregard any information linking Agbo to the PDP governorship ticket.

According to Adaji, the Benue PDP, through a transparent and unanimous consensus process involving party leaders, stakeholders and members, duly affirmed Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, as the party’s authentic and legitimate governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

He further stated that the process was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and has received widespread acceptance across the state.

“The decision reflects the collective will of the party and has been widely endorsed across Benue State. Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa remains the only recognised and legitimate governorship candidate of the PDP,” he declared.

The party chairman warned that the PDP would not tolerate any attempt to sow confusion or undermine the unity and progress of the party in the state.

He disclosed that the party had commenced constitutional and legal processes to expose and confront those behind the alleged impersonation.

“We have immediately commenced the necessary constitutional and legal steps to expose, confront and decisively deal with Emmanuel Agbo and all impersonators of his kind. Impersonating a party candidate is a serious offence, and the full weight of the law will be brought to bear on anyone engaging in such criminal conduct,” Adaji stated.

He called on security agencies, the media and the general public to remain vigilant and treat any narrative promoting Emmanuel Agbo as the PDP governorship candidate with the contempt it deserves.

The Benue PDP chairman reiterated that the party remains united and focused on its mission of reclaiming power in the state under the leadership and candidacy of Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN.

“The PDP remains focused, united and ready to rescue and rebuild Benue State under the capable umbrella of Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN,” he added.
