Firearm, crystal meth recovered as Police nab Motel owner, two others in Anambra

Anambra State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities with the arrest of three suspects over unlawful possession of a firearm and involvement in illicit drug activities in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria.

The suspects — Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, 39; Abdullahi Shaibu, 26; and Obah Chima, 18 — were arrested following a coordinated operation by police operatives.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu acted on credible intelligence in the late hours of February 9, 2026, and stormed a motel facility in Uke believed to be used for criminal activities.

During the operation, officers recovered a Jojef pump-action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges. The police also recovered substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos, and Mkpuru-mmiri.

Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects allegedly confessed to involvement in the crime, a development that led to the arrest of the other two suspects and further recovery of suspected illicit drugs.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining ongoing security operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements across the state.

Authorities also called on residents to support policing efforts by providing timely and credible information that can aid crime prevention and law enforcement.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga assured that further details will be made public as investigations progress.

The Command reiterated that it remains resolute in ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state through intelligence-driven operations and community collaboration.
