YALI Network advocates environmental awareness through Lagos tree planting projects

YALI Network Lagos January Cohort successfully carried out a Tree Planting Project as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, community development, and climate action.

The initiative took place at two educational institutions in Lagos: Bayo Tijani Primary School, Igando and Casmiree Bond High School, Ajegunle.

The project brought together dedicated members of the January cohort who volunteered their time and effort to promote environmental conservation through tree planting. The initiative reflects the cohort’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and creating awareness about the importance of protecting the environment.

Planning for the project involved active collaboration among members of the January cohort. Preparations included identifying suitable planting locations, sourcing healthy tree seedlings, mobilizing volunteers, and organizing the necessary tools and logistics required for the planting exercise. Participants were also guided on proper tree planting techniques to ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of the trees.

During the implementation phase, cohort members gathered at the selected locations and carried out the planting activities. The event began with a brief orientation on environmental conservation and the role of trees in combating climate change. This was followed by the planting of several tree seedlings across designated areas within the schools.

The activity was carried out in a collaborative and engaging atmosphere that reinforced teamwork, leadership, and shared responsibility among participants.

The project recorded several positive outcomes, including the successful planting of multiple trees and increased awareness among participants and school communities about environmental sustainability.

Beyond the environmental impact, the initiative also strengthened the spirit of leadership, volunteerism, and collaboration among members of the YALI Network Lagos January Cohort.
