Police IG issues stern warning against misuse of power, improper dressing

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a stern warning to police officers, particularly those in tactical squads, against the misuse of power and improper dressing.
In a virtual meeting with senior strategic police managers, the IGP emphasized the importance of operating within approved guidelines and adhering to standard operating procedures.
According to the Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the meeting, aimed to reinforce operational integrity and ensure effective management within the Force.
IGP Egbetokun further emphasized the importance of upholding human rights and avoiding misconduct.
He noted that any conduct violating human rights would not be tolerated and would be met with severe consequences.
He stressed the importance of operating in approved uniforms and adhering to standard operating procedures.
Furthermore, IGP Egbetokun stressed the need for collaborative work among all ranks to prevent irresponsible acts that can tarnish the reputation of the Force.
He also prohibited the indiscriminate transfer of cases without his written approval, citing the potential for unnecessary burdens and delayed justice.
The virtual meeting is part of the IGP’s efforts to promote professionalism and integrity within the Nigeria Police Force.
