Nung Udoe – Afaha Offiong – Nsitt Ubium dualization: A crucial step towards safer roads, enhanced connectivity

During the commissioning of the Ikot-Eyo road in Nsit Ubium, Governor Umo Eno announced that his administration has allocated funds in the 2025 budget for the dualization of the Nung Udoe-Afaha Ofiong-Nsit Ubium Road.

This project aims to improve traffic flow and enhance economic activities in the area.

According to the Governor, the Road zero point will be at Nung Udoe Junction to Afaha Ofion on Eket-Etinan Road, while another leg of the road will take through the road crossing from the local Government headquarters of Nsit Ibom and Ubium local Government Areas that will also has its terminal point at Eket-Etinan Road

Historically, the present road’s width of just 7 meters has led to head-on collisions and tragic accidents, including a multi-vehicle incident in 2020 that claimed more than ten lives. Such events highlight the urgent need for infrastructural improvement, which this dualization project seeks to address.

The current design, characterized by sharp turns and bends, has contributed to numerous accidents, creating a hazardous environment for drivers.

By widening the road, the dualization will enhance its capacity to accommodate growing traffic and mitigate these dangers.

Beyond safety, the initiative promises to bolster economic activity across Akwa Ibom State.
