NNPC alerts public as Seplat begins four-day gas facility maintenance

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has notified the public of a scheduled routine maintenance exercise on major gas production facilities operated by Seplat Energy Plc, a joint venture partner and key supplier of gas into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network.

The maintenance exercise is scheduled to run from February 12 to February 15, 2026, and forms part of standard industry safety and asset integrity protocols designed to ensure the continued reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of critical gas infrastructure nationwide.

In a statement issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Andy Odeh, the company explained that periodic maintenance is necessary to sustain optimal system performance, strengthen operational resilience, and minimise the risk of unplanned outages across the gas supply chain.

During the four-day maintenance window, there will be a temporary reduction in gas supply into the NGIC pipeline network.

Consequently, some power generation companies dependent on the supply may experience reduced gas availability, which could modestly impact electricity generation across parts of the country during the period.
