Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with Elspazio Nig Ltd, has trained 50 youths in Benin City, Edo State, on renewable energy integration for oil and gas installations.
The five-day training programme, held from September 28 to October 2, 2026, was designed to equip young Nigerians with practical and future-oriented skills needed to support the energy transition and promote sustainable operations within the oil and gas industry.
The intensive programme exposed participants to key areas including solar and hybrid energy systems for oilfield installations, sustainable energy design, energy efficiency, renewable energy integration strategies and approaches to reducing carbon emissions in oil and gas operations.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Managing Director of Elspazio Nig Ltd, Ms. Stephanie Dare, commended the participants for their dedication, discipline and enthusiasm throughout the training.
Dare, who carried out the official handover and presentation to the beneficiaries, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the NCDMB’s local content development agenda and preparing Nigerian youths for emerging opportunities in the evolving energy sector.
She noted that developing local expertise in renewable and sustainable energy technologies was critical to positioning Nigerian youths to take advantage of the changing demands of the global energy industry.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to NCDMB and Elspazio Nig Ltd for the opportunity, describing the training as timely, impactful and eye-opening.
According to the participants, the knowledge acquired would enhance their ability to contribute meaningfully to the deployment of cleaner energy solutions, particularly as the global oil and gas industry increasingly embraces sustainable technologies.
The initiative further demonstrates NCDMB’s commitment to youth empowerment and local capacity development through strategic partnerships that provide Nigerians with relevant skills for emerging opportunities in the energy sector.
It also reinforces the growing importance of renewable energy integration in oil and gas operations as Nigeria and other oil-producing countries seek to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon footprints and advance the transition towards cleaner energy sources.
