MURIC commends Akwa Ibom Governor Eno for religious tolerance, inclusiveness

Oyo State chapter of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pst Umo Eno (PhD), for his unwavering commitment to religious tolerance and inclusive governance.

The commendation was officially issued by , MURIC’s Ambassador and Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade.

In its statement, MURIC highlighted that while religious friendliness in public office is often politicized, Governor Eno has quietly fostered interfaith harmony and inclusiveness in state policies without fanfare or political posturing.

A clear demonstration of this commitment was seen during this year’s iftar dinner hosted by Governor Eno at Government House, Uyo, where he welcomed the leadership of the State Muslim community.

At the event, he remarked, “No communities develop on their own without the contributions of visitors and residents,” underscoring the importance of collaboration and inclusion in societal progress.

MURIC praised the governor’s consistent engagement with the Muslim community, noting that even before assuming office, he regularly broke fast with Muslims in Eket during Ramadan and promised to continue this tradition as governor. This year marks the third consecutive year that Governor Eno has fulfilled that promise by hosting the Muslim community at the Government House for iftar.

Further demonstrating his commitment to Muslim welfare, Governor Eno has taken concrete steps to address the longstanding absence of a Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board in Akwa Ibom State, a move described by MURIC as both necessary and commendable.

Mallam Agunbiade emphasized that Governor Eno’s leadership sets a positive example for the nation, highlighting how inclusive governance and religious tolerance can coexist with effective administration.

“We hail this governor. He is leading by example and keeping the promises he made to the Muslim community,” the MURIC statement concluded.
