One Maazi Kanayo has been accused of inciting violence against Igbo Muslims, allegedly directing kidnappers and attackers to target residents in Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo States, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has warned.

According to the Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the organization is in possession of a viral video clip in which Maazi Kanayo allegedly directed attacks against Muslims of Igbo extraction.

“Maazi Kanayo specifically instructed his potential kidnappers and killers to target Igbo Muslims living in Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo States,” the statement reads.

“This is the last thing Nigeria needs at a time when the entire country is grappling with serious insecurity. The lives of thousands of Igbo Muslims, some of whom are traditional rulers in their communities, are at risk, and communal tensions could escalate rapidly.”

MURIC described the incitement as “an extremely dangerous dimension” and stressed that immediate intervention by security agencies is crucial.

“We call on the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police to arrest, detain, and prosecute Maazi Kanayo. Every minute counts as the lives of thousands hang in the balance,”

Professor Akintola emphasized.
The organization shared links to the viral audio and video online, urging the public to take the threat seriously and support efforts to prevent violence.

MURIC appealed for dialogue and peaceful coexistence, underscoring its motto: “Dialogue, Not Violence.”
