Ibom Tropicana Hotel completion; Umo Eno reclaim Akwa Ibom wealth

The unfinished Tropicana Entertainment Center stands as a symbol of broken promises and lost opportunities. and Governor Umo Eno has made a wise and thoughtful decision not to let this multi-billion. Naira investment remain idle and neglected.

Recovering wasted investments is crucial for the financial health and development of any government entity, including the Akwa Ibom State government.

Recovering wasted investments will help the government of Akwa Ibom State to recoup funds that can be reinvested in other productive and beneficial projects.

As it will also help to improve the financial sustainability of the state government and ensure that resources are gain back and used efficiently.

As the government of Pastor Umo Eno has taken steps to recover wasted investments, it will help to rebuild public trust in his government.

Akwa Ibom Citizens are more likely to have confidence in their government when they see that efforts are being made to rectify mistakes and recover and utilize the funds invested.

Governor Umo Eno’s proactive stance towards rejuvenating the Tropicana Entertainment Center signifies a rekindle hope for Akwa Ibom State. The Governor has a keen understanding of the economic potential locked within the complex, especially in the tourism and hospitality sectors,

The ambitious project is situated in a 30,000 Square meters’ landmass aimed to feature a cinema galleria, shopping malls, a 5,000-capacity conference hall, wet and dry park, and a 19-storey five-star hotel.

The government of Akwa Ibom State under Senator Godswill Akpabio’s leadership envisioned the project and allocated a substantial budget of 26 billion Naira for its construction and development, but the project was not completed at the end of his tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State due to unforeseen circumstances..

During Akpabio era, the Cinema theater was completed and commissioned, wet and dry park was completed but not put to use

The baton of governance changed hands, and under the administration of His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel, efforts were made to complete and operationalize the remaining components of the Tropicana Entertainment Center.

The administration of Udom Emmanuel completed the mall area and leased out to Market Square, contributing to the local economy. Nevertheless, the hotel still stood at 70% completion, while the conference center remained at the foundation stage, awaiting further development.

However, the incomplete state of the hotel and conference center lingered, prompting Governor Umo Bassey Eno to revisit the project and explore avenues to bring it to fruition. With over 26 billion Akwa Ibom tax payers money already expended.

While there was also an approved, variations due to rising inflation in construction materials during the construction.

Since 2015, efforts to attract investors to finalize the project through PPP have been ongoing but unsuccessful.

The recent commitment of Governor Umo Eno to assess the facilities, determine the required investment for completion, and leverage his expertise in the hotel industry has sparked optimism among Akwa Ibom residents and Nigerians at large.

The potential revival of the Tropicana Entertainment Centre promises job creation and economic growth and signifies a significant boost to the state’s tourism sector.

This proactive approach underscores the importance of maximizing the Centre’s potential to drive development and prosperity in Akwa Ibom.

As stakeholders eagerly await the outcome of the evaluation and stocktaking process initiated by Governor Umo Eno, hopes are high for a resurgence of this iconic project, breathing new life into Akwa Ibom’s economic landscape and reaffirming its position as a hub for tourism and investment.

Furthermore, revitalization of the Tropicana Entertainment Center represents not just a physical transformation but a symbol of resilience and determination in the face of past setbacks.

Governor Umo Eno and the people of Akwa Ibom State are poised to unlock a wealth of opportunities and steer their beloved state towards a brighter future.
