Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi, has urged Nigerians to reflect on the immense spiritual, moral, and social significance of Ramadan.

According to the Special Adviser ( Media) to the Honourable Minister of Works, Hon. Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, speaking during a ceremony organized to mark the breaking of the fast by Muslim brothers and sisters in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Sen. Umahi emphasized the need for Nigerians to strive for God-consciousness, self-discipline, tolerance, and gratitude.

He expressed joy in the renewed solidarity and fellowship between Islam and Christianity in Nigeria, describing it as a pathway to enduring national unity and love.

Sen. Umahi also urged Nigerians to continue praying for their leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Prince Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

“In your prayers, please pray for the President, for his success, for all the great work he’s doing, because he came in the name of God. And God has shown himself so mightily and strongly for our dear President. We pray that God will give him good health and that every good thing he thinks for this nation will come to pass. He will achieve it. And, of course, as we prepare to complete our first tenure, Mr. President will also be re-elected for the second tenure so that he will complete the good job that he has started.”

He also expressed his best wishes to the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Prince Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

He said, “The Governor is doing his best to develop the State. You will pray for him that God will help him to conclude his four-year tenure and give him victory for the second year tenure and that God will lift Ebonyi State and make us number one in the whole country for peace, for prosperity, for wealth, for good governance, that God will make us number one. We are happy with what the Governor is doing, and we will continue to support him, and you pray for the entire of Nigeria that God will continue to make Nigeria a great country and that Nigeria will be great again.”

Honourable Minister of Works gave gifts to the Muslim faithful to mark the event, which was attended by the South East Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other dignitaries.

In their separate remarks, one of the leaders of the Muslims in the State and Sarki Hausa, Alhaji Danjuma Mahmud Gambo thanked the Honourable Minister of Works for his usual generosity and sense of fellowship with the Muslim faithful in Ebonyi State which had become a routine right from the time he was the Governor of Ebonyi State.

“Your Excellency, I pray that God will reward you; as I said earlier, this is the first of its kind; we pray that it will continue, and God will fulfill a desire for you. I promise to pray for you always, whenever you remember this time, and by the grace of God, that will continue.”

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South East Zone, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Abraham Chukwuma Nwali, also added his voice to the shared lessons and values of Ramadan.

“What the Muslims do in the month of Ramadan is the same thing that the Christians do in our Easter period: prayers, fasting, that the soul may be strengthened to defeat the evil one. As we break the fast, as we continue to pray, we ask that the Lord will make Nigeria continue to live religiously upright, religiously in love, religiously in peace, one heaven, one God, one earth, one Nigeria, and one Nigeria. We wish you well and our beloved Minister, thank you for giving us this honor and privilege. We also ask the Lord to grant to your heart desires and pray for the religious peace, unity, and love of our dear nation, and, in particular, our dear State.”
