Gov. Eno’s weekly recap: TSA, collaborations, alignment with centre

Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, truly work the talk over the past week. From high-level engagements to initiatives aimed at the common good of the people, several activities were undertaken by the Governor during the period under review.

Gov. Eno celebrated his son, Pastor Ebong Eno, on his birthday, Sunday, February 22. Gov. Eno met with relevant MDAs on the Treasury Single Account (TSA), Monday, February 23. Gov. Eno inaugurated the Project Media Team, Monday, February 23.

Gov. Eno met with the Agric Business Committee, Monday, February 23, Gov. Eno met with the Tourism Committee, Monday, February 23, Gov. Eno reconstituted the AKSU Governing Council and appointed the Chancellor and substantive Vice Chancellor, Monday, February 23.

Gov. Eno felicitated with the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, on her birthday, Tuesday, February 24, Gov. Eno, alongside other governors, welcomed Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima at the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit, Tuesday, February 24 and Gov. Eno and Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Otu, met with Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, Wednesday, February 25.

Gov. Eno met with the President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Wednesday, February 25, Gov. Eno celebrated Senator Udo Udoma on his 72nd birthday, Thursday, February 26, Gov. Eno paid tribute to the late Sir Wilker Jackson at his burial, Thursday, February 26 and Gov. Eno visited the multi-faceted CSS Farms in Nasarawa State, Friday, February 27.

Gov. Eno met with Aleph Technical Services as the State Government signed an MoU for the management of hospitality facilities, Friday, February 27, Gov. Eno, represented by the Head of Humanitarian Affairs, attended the burial of Late Theresa Bassey, Friday, February 27.

Gov. Eno Meets with President Tinubu
In recent weeks, media deliberations have focused on the 76 oil wells belonging to Akwa Ibom State, following two Supreme Court rulings in its favor. During the 2nd Anniversary of GIFA on February 20, 2026, Governor Eno noted that both Akwa Ibom and Cross River States belong to the same political party, pledging to engage wherever necessary to discuss the matter.

True to his word, Governor Eno spent several days in Abuja engaging relevant authorities while briefing the President on key state affairs. He reaffirmed that the Akwa Ibom State Government will not cede any portion of the oil wells to Cross River State under any guise.

Governor Eno emphasized that the 76 oil wells are state assets handed over to him to manage effectively for the common good of all Akwa Ibomites. He cautioned against attempts by any party, including the Cross River State Governor, to politicize the matter.

Akwa Ibomites are peace-loving people, but the state will defend its patrimony anywhere and at any time. Gov. Eno Seeks collaboration with CSS Farms
Despite a busy schedule, Governor Eno visited CSS Farms in Nasarawa State on Friday, February 27, 2026. The study tour aimed to examine the multi-faceted agricultural facility to glean knowledge for replication and adaptation at the ongoing Ibom Model Farm, inspired by the Songhai Farming Model and aligned with the Arise Agenda.

Governor Eno stated: “The visit was a study tour. We have the Ibom Model Farm, so we went to see what they are doing and what we can do differently. You must compare notes. There is really nothing new under the sun. People are doing things differently, so we have to see what they are doing and learn from it. Let our team see the secrets behind their success story and what we can take away. It was a working visit, really.”
Inauguration of AKSU Governing Council
Governor Umo Eno inaugurated a seven-member Governing Council for Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), appointing Senator Udoma Udo Udoma as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman. The Governor also congratulated His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Etuk, JP, CFR, the Oku Ibom Ibibio, on his appointment as Chancellor, and Prof. Otobasi Akpan as substantive Vice Chancellor.

Inaugurating the board at Government House, Uyo, Governor Eno commended Prof. Akpan for leadership that secured full accreditation for the Faculty of Law and other courses. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the Governor highlighted his administration’s contributions, including internal road construction, subventions, and bursaries for tertiary students.

Governor Eno urged the Council to maintain zero tolerance for cultism and other anti-social activities, stressing that degrees should reflect learning and character.

Other Council members include Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Surveyor Mfoniso Essien, Lady Stella Udoh, Dr. Enefiok Edem, Prof. Ubong Essien, and Dr. Frank Ekpenyong.

Treasury Single Account (TSA)
Governor Eno emphasized that implementing TSA will boost revenue, enhance transparency, and strengthen accountability across MDAs. Speaking at Government House, Uyo, he noted that TSA will curb leakages, provide empirical data for planning, and ensure efficient revenue collection.

He highlighted the digital verification of over 2,000 unaccredited workers in the State Civil Service and lauded the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy for driving the initiative.

The Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Emem Almond Bob, described TSA as a major public financial management reform, noting the Governor’s success in clearing inherited bank debts and gratuity arrears while maintaining over 80% budget performance.

Other stakeholders, including the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem, and Dr. Uwemedimo Udo of ALGON, expressed support for full alignment with the TSA framework. The Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong, presented the AkwaRemit platform and compliance guidelines.
MoU for Management of State Hospitality Facilities.

Akwa Ibom State Government and Aleph Technical and Advisory Services signed an MoU for managing government-owned hospitality facilities, including Ibom Icon and Golf Resort, Four Points by Sheraton, Ibom International Hotel, and the ARISE Palm Resort.

Governor Eno assured the management of full support, emphasizing the State’s potential as a tourism destination. The MoU will be finalized after due diligence.
The signing ceremony included key officials from both the State Government and Aleph Technical Services, such as Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah, Attorney General Uko Udom SAN, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon. Frank Archibong, and others.
