First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to commission key projects, engage Benue women on Renewed Hope Initiative

First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is scheduled to visit Benue State, where she will commission major infrastructure projects and engage women groups as part of efforts to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The visit, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Sir Tersoo Kula, is aimed at strengthening initiatives designed to improve the welfare of vulnerable groups and deepen the impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative at the grassroots level.

During her visit, Senator Tinubu is expected to interact with beneficiaries of the initiative and hold discussions with women across the state, further reinforcing the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive development and social empowerment.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has expressed delight over the forthcoming visit, describing it as another positive step in the collaborative efforts between the Federal and State Governments to improve the living conditions of citizens, particularly women, children and families.

The governor noted that a major highlight of the visit would be the commissioning of ten newly completed roads in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The roads form part of over 45 road projects delivered by the Alia administration since assuming office.

According to the statement, the ten roads span a total distance of 11.5 kilometres and represent a significant investment in urban renewal and infrastructure development.

The projects are expected to improve mobility, stimulate economic activities and enhance the quality of life of residents.

The roads slated for commissioning include the Ishaya Bakut Road Dual Carriageway, roads off Ishaya Bakut Road, Abu King Shuluwa Road, Mama Mbateren Alia Street (formerly Keke Napep Road), Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road, Sir James Iorpuu Street, Tyagher Gbaa Street and Jato Aka Road, among others within Makurdi metropolis.

Following the road commissioning ceremony, the First Lady will proceed to Ihugh in Vandeikya Local Government Area, where she will commission a Community ICT Centre designed to promote digital literacy and expand access to information and communication technology among residents.

Speaking ahead of the visit, the Benue State Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs. Scholastica Bensor, disclosed that all necessary arrangements had been concluded to ensure a successful visit.

She said women across Benue State are enthusiastic and eagerly awaiting the arrival of the nation’s First Lady.
Mrs. Bensor called on women groups, community leaders, support organizations and members of the public to come out in large numbers to welcome Senator Tinubu and demonstrate the hospitality, unity and warmth for which the people of Benue are known.

The visit is expected to further strengthen the partnership between the Federal Government and Benue State in the areas of infrastructure development, women empowerment, social welfare and community advancement.
