Federal Poly Isuochi gets boost as Oduwole, others make case for institution in Abia

Ngodo-Isuochi community in Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State, erupted in jubilation as the official groundbreaking ceremony of the permanent site of the Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi, took place recently.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Alhaji Sulaiman Oduwole, commended the selfless and tireless efforts of all the stakeholders who ensured that the project took off in earnest.

“I want to thank you all so much for your cooperation and for getting things going. This is just the start of the process. We have a lot of work to do. And I know by God’s grace, by the cooperation of everyone, the community, and stakeholders, we will get there. I want to thank President Bola Tinubu, the Minister for the smooth takeoff of our institution.
Our sincere appreciation for the success of the groundbreaking of the institution’s permanent site also goes to the Federal Ministry of Education and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund),” he said.

Expatiating, he said, “Having the first set of courses approved, we are not going to bed with that. There is still time for others. We will push further in getting more courses approved, with your prayers and support. We will push further in the admission of students. With the cooperation of the management and staff of the institution, we will continue to put in our energy and give it our all so that we don’t just have buildings, we don’t just have courses, but have students.”

An elated Oduwole expressed optimism that with the accreditation of six courses including Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology, Statistics, Accountancy, Business Administration, and Management, by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), there is no doubt that the pioneer students will have a good start even as he assured that no efforts would be spared to make the polytechnic one of the most sort after in the country.

The school will start its approved courses from the temporary site.

Also speaking at the event, Dr Paul-Darlington Ibemezie Ndubuisi, Rector of the Polytechnic, called on students who sat for the 2024 Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examinations and scored 100 and above and had not accepted admission into other institutions to initiate the admission process into the Polytechnic through the JAMB portal.

The Rector was grateful to the governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, who donated the 500 KVA Transformer, installed and reticulated it, and was represented at the two ceremonies by the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Engr Ikechukwu Monday.

The leadership and vision of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Dr Barr Nkiruka Chukwudubem Onyejiocha, who represented the Umunneochi/Isikwuato Federal Constituency in the last political dispensation, came to mention and were generally applauded at the ceremonies.

The Rector, along with the Registrar, Mrs. Ezenuruihe Ifeyinwa Olachi, was appointed by former President Muhammad Buhari for a single five-year tenure with effect from 17th January 2023, in line with Federal Polytechnic (Amendment) Act 2019.
