Ebonyi’s transportation sector gets a boost, as Gov. Nwifuru unveils 68 SUVs

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has officially launched EBOCAB, a centrally controlled transportation system designed to transform the state’s mobility landscape.
The innovative initiative aimed to provide safe, efficient, and affordable transportation options for residents and visitors.
Inaugurating the 68 SUVs, under the auspices of the Ebonyi Chamber of Business (EBOCAB), Governor Nwifuru said the idea would enhance the economic and transportation development of the state.
According to him, “The EBOCAB is poised to play a pivotal role in promoting trade, commerce, and industry in Ebonyi State.
“The Chamber aims to provide a platform for businesses to network, collaborate, and advocate for policies that support economic growth and development.”
The governor also emphasized the role played by the private sector participants in driving the economic sustainability of the state and assured the chamber of his administration’s unwavering support in creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
He added, “The idea of EBOCAB in Ebonyi State is to reduce stealing, maltreatment, killing, intimidation and high jacks which have taken the centre stage in the name of transport.
“Over 100% of the transport has been owned and financed by the state government and people who are willing to run it within one year without personal interest will take 5% and the government will take 95% of what they make at the end of the month.
“The benefit of the EBOCAB is that it will change a lot of things in the state transportation system.
“Over 68 SUVs out of 70 SUVs budgeted were brought as a result of out of stock, which each of the SUVS cost 25 million naira.
“Government staff also complained of open machines that will take their farm implements to the farms, which the government also made provision for.
“The machines that will be carrying some little things like gas cylinders and others. We will use the EBOCAB provided by the government to deliver the services to your doorstep.”
