Comrade Taofeek emerges MWUN 2025 Best Staff Award Winner from AIT

African Independent Television (AIT) has honoured Comrade Taofeek Adeleke with the 2025 Best Staff Award for the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), recognising his outstanding dedication and exceptional service during a brief ceremony held at the station’s corporate headquarters in Alagbado, Lagos.

According to the Head of Media, MWUN, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Comrade Taofeek is a selfless security officer whose service to the foremost maritime labour union in the country has remained exemplary and unquestionable. He noted that Taofeek has continued to serve the Union diligently and without blemish, demonstrating remarkable vigour, brilliance, and dignity in the discharge of his duties.

The Oyo State–born former dockworker, now a security personnel with the Union, is also described by union executives and colleagues as someone with a “bird’s eye” for detecting threats before they occur.

While presenting the award—his first of its kind—to the President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, upon his arrival at the office, the renowned labour activist commended Comrade Taofeek for his dedication, commitment, loyalty, and responsiveness to duty at all times. Comrade Bunu described Taofeek as one of the few staff members who regard duty as a calling that must be honoured whenever it beckons, noting that he consistently goes the extra mile to deliver results to his superiors and colleagues regardless of circumstances.

The Union leader also admonished Comrade Taofeek to remain steadfast and well-behaved, stressing that the award is only a symbol of greater opportunities and recognition ahead.

In his remarks, Comrade Taofeek expressed gratitude to the President-General and the Union’s executive team for their continuous support and encouragement since the beginning of the current administration.
