Caleb University Postgraduate Students celebrate Bello, Aondover, Okunade’s academic elevations

2025/2026 Set of postgraduate students of Mass Communication at Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, has congratulated Dr. Samson Bello on his appointment as Head of the Department of Mass Communication and elevation to the rank of Associate Professor.

The students also congratulated Dr. Eric Aondover on his promotion to Associate Professor and Dr. Kayode Okunade on his elevation to the rank of Professor, describing the three achievements as a source of pride for the university and the wider communication and media scholarship community.

In a congratulatory message signed by Mr. Samuel Olayemi on behalf of the class, the students said the academic advancements reflected sustained scholarship, intellectual discipline, research excellence, quality teaching and commitment to institutional development.

They described Bello’s appointment and promotion as particularly remarkable, noting that the dual achievement represented recognition of his academic contributions and an opportunity to advance departmental administration and postgraduate education.

According to the students, his appointment provides an opportunity to strengthen academic standards, promote research-driven learning, encourage collaboration among staff and students, and expand the department’s contributions to the evolving field of Mass Communication.

They expressed confidence that his experience and scholarly engagement would help foster an academic environment that prioritises critical thinking, innovation, ethical communication and professional competence.

The postgraduate students also commended Aondover’s elevation to Associate Professor, describing it as recognition of his academic commitment and contributions to journalism and media studies.

They noted that his advancement underscored the importance of research, effective teaching and academic leadership in preparing communication professionals for the demands of an increasingly dynamic media landscape.

Similarly, the students congratulated Okunade on his elevation to full professorship, describing the milestone as evidence of sustained intellectual engagement, scholarly development and dedication to advancing knowledge.

They observed that attaining the rank of Professor comes with greater responsibility for mentoring younger scholars, expanding research frontiers and contributing to the growth of higher education.

The students stressed that the three achievements went beyond individual accomplishments, describing them as an affirmation of Caleb University’s commitment to academic excellence and the development of competent scholars and professionals in communication, journalism and media studies.

“As postgraduate students of Mass Communication, we draw inspiration from these remarkable achievements. They remind us that academic excellence is built on discipline, perseverance, continuous learning and an unwavering commitment to knowledge creation and societal development,” the statement said.

The class added that the milestones would motivate its members to pursue their academic ambitions with greater determination, embrace research and innovation, and uphold the highest standards of professional and scholarly integrity.

The students further congratulated the management, staff and entire academic community of Caleb University, expressing confidence that the achievements would enhance the institution’s academic profile and inspire the next generation of communication scholars.

They wished Bello success in his new administrative responsibility and expressed optimism that Aondover and Professor Okunade would continue to make meaningful contributions to teaching, research, mentorship and institutional development.
