Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has put Nigeria’s registered voters at 110 million following the conclusion of three phases of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja while providing an update on the voter registration exercise.

According to him, the figure represents the cumulative number of registered voters recorded across the three phases of the exercise.

A breakdown of the figures released by the Commission showed that Lagos State leads the country’s voter register with 7,488,633 registered voters, followed by Kano State with 6,570,276 and Kaduna State with 4,662,640.
Katsina State occupies the fourth position with 3,876,051 registered voters, while Rivers State follows with 3,736,434.

Oyo State recorded 3,588,111 registered voters, while Delta State has 3,525,988.
Benue State occupies the eighth position with 3,057,225 voters, followed by Ogun State with 3,037,981.

Bauchi State completes the top 10 with 3,012,547 registered voters.

The figures highlight the distribution of registered voters across the leading states as political parties and electoral stakeholders prepare for the 2027 general elections.

Amupitan said details of the voter distribution across the remaining states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would be released in due course.

The updated register is expected to serve as an important reference for preparations for the forthcoming general elections, although the number of registered voters does not necessarily translate into actual voter turnout on election day.
