Residents of Adamawa State have shared accounts of how they benefited from empowerment interventions attributed to the Young Progressive Party (YPP) governorship candidate, Hon. Pharmacist Wafarninyi Theman, particularly in agriculture, youth development and support for vulnerable households.
The testimonies were presented during a meeting between Wafarninyi and representatives of Adalchi Foundation and One Cap United at the YPP state office in Adamawa State.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the organisations to explain their activities, discuss their relationship with the governorship candidate and reaffirm their commitment to community development.
Speaking during the engagement, the chairman of One Cap United disclosed that Wafarninyi had assisted him with agricultural inputs, describing the intervention as one of the factors influencing his decision to support the candidate.
Similarly, the chairman of Adalchi Foundation said some of his relatives had benefited from Wafarninyi’s empowerment initiatives, particularly interventions targeted at people requiring assistance.
The testimonies highlighted the role of practical interventions in addressing economic difficulties, especially among farmers, young people and vulnerable households.
One Cap United focuses on addressing youth unemployment and idleness through vocational skills acquisition programmes in tailoring, carpentry, shoemaking, cap-making and fabric dyeing.
Adalchi Foundation, on the other hand, focuses on supporting less privileged individuals, people facing health challenges, and young people through empowerment initiatives.
The YPP State Chairman, during the meeting, emphasised the importance of diligence and commitment while highlighting Wafarninyi’s engagement with grassroots communities.
The party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Sudi Abba, also commended the organisations for their humanitarian activities and reiterated the party’s stated commitment to progress and community development.
In his remarks, Wafarninyi appreciated the organisations for their contributions to society, describing the support provided through his party and movement as voluntary and driven by genuine concern for people.
He subsequently announced a combined donation of ₦3 million to the two organisations as support for their activities.
Wafarninyi also registered with both organisations alongside the YPP State Chairman and the party’s Publicity Secretary.
The meeting further highlighted the importance of evaluating empowerment initiatives beyond individual testimonies, particularly in terms of the number of beneficiaries reached, consistency of interventions and sustainability of their impact.
For farmers, access to agricultural inputs can improve production opportunities, while vocational training can equip young people with skills for self-employment. Similarly, targeted assistance can provide relief for vulnerable households facing economic and social challenges.
As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to develop, the accounts shared at the meeting have brought attention to the place of grassroots empowerment in public engagement.
However, the broader impact of such interventions can be assessed through verifiable records of beneficiaries, the reach of programmes and evidence of sustainable improvements in livelihoods.
The effectiveness of empowerment initiatives is reflected not only in immediate assistance but also in their ability to create lasting economic opportunities, strengthen households and improve community welfare.
