Eagle FM, The Mirror forge stronger partnership on content, public discourse

Jeremiah Adeshina,
Eagle 102.5 FM, Ilese-Ijebu, Ogun State, and The Mirror Newspaper have strengthened their media relationship through a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing content dissemination, audience engagement and collaboration across broadcast, print and digital platforms.
The partnership is expected to provide opportunities for the two media organisations to share and disseminate relevant news and public-interest content while exploring other areas of professional and institutional collaboration.
The relationship will also create avenues for greater exposure of quality journalism produced by both organisations and provide audiences with access to credible information through multiple media platforms.
Eagle 102.5 FM commenced operations on April 4, 2022, as a youth-driven radio station established to provide a platform where voices for justice, equity, progress and development can resonate with both urban and suburban communities.
The station is licensed as a regional commercial radio station and broadcasts from Ilese-Ijebu in Ogun State, offering a combination of quality music, news, entertainment, sports, business information and intelligent conversations.
Eagle 102.5 FM is a bilingual station with an array of seasoned and professional on-air personalities whose voices cut across different demographics while maintaining sensitivity to the cultural peculiarities of its immediate environment.
It is committed to deepening the culture of public discourse through refreshing debates and conversations on topical issues affecting society.
Its programming provides listeners with up-to-date news, business information, entertainment, sports and other content through carefully designed programmes.
The choice of Ilese-Ijebu as the station’s operational base was strategic, with the station’s terrestrial reach extending across Ogun, Lagos, Oyo, Osun and Ondo states.
Through its digital media channels and other platforms, Eagle 102.5 FM also reaches audiences beyond Nigeria, including listeners and followers in more than 40 countries, according to the station.
Its international digital audience includes people in countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
The station’s target audience has also influenced its programming direction, which the management describes as a significant development in the history of radio broadcasting in Ogun State.
Eagle FM has maintained an apolitical position in its programming and provides broad-based and non-aligned discourse on political and other public issues.
The partnership with The Mirror Newspaper is therefore expected to further strengthen the dissemination of news and public-interest content by taking advantage of the complementary strengths of radio, print and digital journalism.
The Mirror Newspaper, a Lagos-based national newspaper, operates across print and digital platforms and maintains a network of correspondents and contributors covering developments in different parts of Nigeria.
The newspaper is committed to journalism anchored on facts and truth, with emphasis on balanced, fair, accurate and objective reporting.
Through the partnership, selected content from The Mirror Newspaper may be disseminated through Eagle 102.5 FM’s broadcast and digital platforms, while appropriate content from the radio station can receive additional exposure through The Mirror’s print and online platforms, subject to editorial considerations.
Areas of potential collaboration include news dissemination, interviews, special reports, community-interest stories, public affairs programmes, event coverage, media projects and other initiatives of mutual interest.
The two organisations will also leverage their platforms to promote greater public awareness of issues affecting communities, businesses, young people, professionals and other stakeholders.
The partnership comes at a time when the media landscape is increasingly becoming interconnected, with audiences consuming news and information through radio, newspapers, websites, social media and other digital platforms.
The collaboration is therefore expected to enable both organisations to expand their reach while providing audiences with more opportunities to access relevant and credible information.
Beyond content sharing, the partnership will also provide room for professional interaction between journalists, broadcasters, editors, producers and other media practitioners associated with both organisations.
It is expected that such interaction will contribute to knowledge exchange, improved content production and stronger professional relationships within the Nigerian media industry.
Eagle 102.5 FM is owned by Awodi Communications Limited, founded by Asiwaju Kunle Kalejaye, SAN, who is serving as Executive Chairman of the company.
The Mirror Newspaper is led by Rev. Stanley Ihedigbo, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.
The leadership of both organisations is expected to provide strategic direction for the development of the partnership and identify additional areas through which the relationship can deliver value to their respective audiences and stakeholders.
The collaboration also presents an opportunity to strengthen media coverage of developments in Ijebuland, Ogun State and other parts of Nigeria, while connecting local stories with audiences within and outside the country.
For Eagle 102.5 FM, its growing terrestrial and digital reach provides an avenue for content to connect with audiences across several states and internationally.
For The Mirror Newspaper, the partnership provides another channel through which its news reports, interviews, features and public-interest stories can reach a wider broadcast audience.
The partnership between Eagle 102.5 FM and The Mirror Newspaper represents a commitment to stronger cooperation within Nigeria’s evolving media industry and to the shared objective of ensuring that quality content reaches audiences through diverse and complementary platforms.
