FCID uncovers counterfeit baby cream factory, arrests suspects in Lagos

Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, has uncovered an illegal factory producing counterfeit baby cream products in Lagos and arrested suspects linked to the operation.

Police operatives raided the facility located in the Sambisa area of Balogun Market, where they seized 389 cartons of fake “Baby Secret Cream” during an intelligence-led operation aimed at curbing the production and distribution of counterfeit products.

The suspects, all males believed to be in their 40s, were arrested during an intelligence-led operation at a telecommunications site in Ayobo, Alimosho area of Lagos State on June 19, 2026, at about 2:00 a.m.

Addressing journalists during the parade, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of FCID Annex, Alagbon, Mr. Simeon Akpanudom, disclosed that the arrest followed painstaking investigations, strategic intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies.

According to the AIG, a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of six solar modules, one pistol, four rounds of live ammunition, one iron cutter, a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number KNN 52 A, an ash-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 576 CA, and a Toyota Sienna with registration number LSS 999 A.

Akpanudom noted that the command had also recorded significant successes in combating other criminal activities across the state, including the arrest of individuals involved in fraud and the discovery of an illegal cosmetics manufacturing factory.

He revealed that an intelligence-led operation uncovered a counterfeit cosmetics factory located at Shop 30, Sambisa Area of Balogun Market, Lagos, where fake baby cream branded “Baby Secret Cream” was being produced.

The police boss said no fewer than 389 cartons of the counterfeit product were seized during the operation and displayed before journalists. Suspects connected to the illegal manufacturing enterprise have also been arrested.

The AIG further disclosed that operatives arrested a woman accused of obtaining money under false pretences after allegedly pretending to be pregnant and collecting over N16 million from unsuspecting victims under the guise of procuring baby items and providing pregnancy-related care.
He assured that all the suspects would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Akpanudom reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property and sustaining the fight against crime and criminality in Lagos State and across the country.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in the ongoing efforts to rid society of criminal elements.
