Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) has announced for the recipients of the 2024–2025 AIST Foundation Steel Intern Scholarships.

Forty-two recipients were selected this year, representing US$319,500 in total awards.

The Steel Intern Scholar program awards university students with a US$7,500 scholarship in addition to a paid summer internship at a steel-related company.

The student program is designed to reveal significant and rewarding career opportunities within the steel industry often associated with renewable energy applications, decarbonization technologies, and smart manufacturing solutions such as robotics and artificial intelligence.

Recipients are vetted against a variety of metrics, including technical interests, academic performance and extracurricular activities.

All are deemed to have high potential for future steel industry career success. Statistics of this successful scholarship program show 70% of the recipients enter the steel industry upon graduation.

In 2024, the AIST Foundation surpassed a significant milestone of providing more than US$1,000,000 in annual funding for programs that introduce students to the steel industry.
