Máximo Vedoya of Ternium named 2025 AIST steelmaker of the year

Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) has announced that Máximo Vedoya, Chief Executive Officer of Ternium, will be honored as the 2025 Steelmaker of the Year.
The prestigious award recognizes Vedoya’s exceptional leadership and vision in positioning Ternium as a global innovator in the steel industry.
Under Vedoya’s leadership, Ternium has achieved significant milestones, including the development of the Pesquería project, one of the world’s most advanced and sustainable steel production facilities. This project has enabled Ternium to reach an annual production capacity of over 20 million tons of hot-rolled steel.
Vedoya has also been instrumental in driving Ternium’s efforts to decarbonize steelmaking and align the company with the energy transition.
His commitment to advanced technology, fair trade, and long-term growth has created lasting value across the North American steel industry.
The Steelmaker of the Year Award will be presented to Vedoya on May 6, 2025, during the President’s Award Breakfast at AISTech 2025, the world’s largest annual gathering of steel industry personnel.
Vedoya’s achievements and leadership have earned him numerous accolades within the industry.
He serves as president of the Industry and Transformation Chamber of Nuevo León, México, and is a member of the executive committee of the Latin American Steel Association, among other roles.
AISTech 2025 will take place May 5-8, 2025, at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
The event will feature hundreds of technical presentations, an expansive exposition, and keynote presentations by industry leaders.
