21-year-old Kabiru Jamilu arrested for inciting violence in Kano

Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of Kabiru Jamilu, a 21-year-old resident of Zango Quarters, Kano.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Jamilu is suspected to be the mastermind behind the resurgence of Daba fighting between Kofar Mata and Zango youths.
“Jamilu was arrested on December 24, 2024, at approximately 8:40 pm, by a team of policemen deployed at Kofar Mata/Zango junction. During preliminary investigations, Jamilu confessed to spearheading the fighting.
“Further investigations led to the arrest of Umar Garba, 32, also a resident of Zango Quarters, who was found in possession of a sharp long knife. Both suspects have been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has urged residents of Kofar Mata and Zango Quarters to cooperate with the police by providing information to completely address the situation,” he further said.
The Command encourages the public to report emergencies to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency contact numbers.
