Year-long wait for police approval: League for Social Justice raises concerns

League for Social Justice has expressed concern over the Nigerian Police Force’s slow response to their application for a no-objection certificate to establish the Institute of Police Public Partnership.

Despite submitting their revised application in August 2023, the group has waited over a year without a resolution.

According to the press statement signed by Policy and Advocacy Activist, member of League for Social Justice Com. Sani Mohammed, and President,Save and Serve Humanity for International Initiative (SSHII), Comrade Akwu Goodman Umaru- Farouk, they expressed concern over the Nigerian Police Force’s slow response to application for a no-objection certificate to establish the Institute of Police Public Partnership.

They noted that the application letter was submitted through Konibaje Law firm Ilorin in August 2023 and no response till date.

They attributed the delay to inefficient processes and a lack of digitalization.

The activists appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, to expedite the review process, citing his reputation for principle-driven and strategic policing.

They believe that leveraging digital technologies can help streamline processes and improve efficiency within the police force.

The group’s application was initially objected to due to the proposed name “Institute of Community Policy,” but they resubmitted with a revised name.

The prolonged delay has raised questions about the police force’s ability to adapt to modern technologies and efficiently process applications.

They appealed to the IGP to expedite the review process and leverage digital technologies.
