VC receives letter of credence from university unions during Founder’s Day

In celebration of its 2026 Founders Day, marking the fourth edition of the annual event, the academic unions of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) on Friday presented letters of credence to Vice Chancellor Prof. Bilkis Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, commending her visionary leadership.

The unions said that their thumbs-up on the VC’s sterling leadership stems from the unions’ observations of improved infrastructure, facilities and aids to teaching and learning, a prompt management stance on staff welfare, which has positioned the school on an enviable height since the V C assumed office on March 1, 2022.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos reports that the LASUED Founders Day had the theme “Celebrating our roots, preserving our culture and identity”.

It was held at the institution’s Oto/Ijanikin main Campus, Ojo, Lagos State.

In its credence letter signed by the Chairman, Mr Akeusola Omojole, the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) described the celebration as a significant milestone that reflects the vision, resilience, and commitment that gave birth to the institution.

It said that LASUED is dedicated to excellence in teacher education and human capacity development.

According to the body, the V C’s proactive and visionary leadership has continued to bear positively on the institution with quality education bequeathed to its students.

“The purposeful leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment of the leader have repositioned LASUED for sustainable growth, academic excellence, and global relevance.

“Under the Vice-Chancellor’s stewardship, the university has continued to record remarkable strides in academic innovation, institutional stability, and community impact,” the union said.

The union stressed that, as the institution commemorates its founders day, it prayed for continued progress, unity, and greater achievements for LASUED, and wished Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye many more years of good health, wisdom, and impactful service to education and humanity.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) in its letter presented by the Chairman, Mr Ogunlari Olumuyiwa, said that the institution has witnessed an unprecedented growth and development in all facets within a short time frame of the VC’s administration.

According to the body, the university has earned the National University Commission (NUC)’s accreditation of its academic programmes, improved students’ enrollment, a cordial working relationship between management and unions and a stable academic calendar.
