Tinubu’s administration: A study in callousness, authoritarianism, says Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized the Tinubu administration for its handling of the wage award arrears owed to federal workers.

According to Atiku, the Federal Government owed four months of wage awards, amounting to ₦140,000 per worker, despite promises to pay the awards as a temporary cushion against the economic hardship triggered by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Atiku described the Tinubu administration’s actions as “callous indifference and utter disdain for workers’ welfare.”

He also condemned the government’s response to peaceful protests, citing the arrest and detention of Comrade Andrew Uche Emelieze for demanding the payment of overdue wage awards.

The former Vice President demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Emelieze, stating that his detention is an affront to democracy and a chilling reminder of the authoritarian drift of the Tinubu administration.

Atiku emphasized that Nigerian workers will not be silenced, intimidated, or forgotten and urged the government to act responsibly and address the economic hardship faced by citizens.
