Throne of Mercy Bible College holds maiden convocation, honours distinguished Nigerians

Throne of Mercy Global Bible College (TMGBC) has held its maiden convocation ceremony and conferment of honorary doctorate degrees, while presenting academic certificates to graduating students.

The ceremony took place on Thursday in Lagos, bringing together Christian leaders and other distinguished personalities to celebrate the institution’s achievements in theological education and leadership development.

The event was presided over by the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Pastor Johnson Ayinde Olumuyiwa Samaiye, Ph.D. Th., alongside the Vice-Chairman, Pastor Owolabi Abioye, Ph.D. Th., and the Secretary, Pastor Omodele Taiwo Samaye, Ph.D. Th.D.

Among the distinguished personalities honoured at the ceremony were Ambassador Samaye, Hon. Oladipupo Okeyomi, popularly known as Carry Go, and Commander Ganzallo, head of the So-Safe Corps.

The honourees were recognised for their contributions to Christian ministry, leadership and societal development.

Established five years ago, TMGBC has produced more than 200 graduates through its theological education, ministerial training and leadership development programmes.

As part of efforts to strengthen its academic administration and promote institutional excellence, the Governing Council announced key appointments during the ceremony.
Pastor Dr Opeyemi Sokan was appointed Rector of the College, while Pastor Omodele Taiwo Samaye, who also serves as Secretary of the Governing Council, was named Deputy Rector. Pastor Tunde Joseph Adebayo was appointed Registrar.

The appointments form part of the institution’s ongoing reorganisation aimed at improving academic administration and advancing its educational mission.

With the theme, “Faithful Stewardship: Equipping Transformational Leaders for National Capacity Building,” the convocation underscored the College’s commitment to developing principled leaders equipped to contribute meaningfully to the Church and society.

The institution said its programmes are designed to promote service, integrity and professional competence while preparing students for leadership responsibilities in ministry and other areas of societal development.

The maiden convocation marks a significant milestone in the College’s five-year journey and reinforces its stated commitment to theological education, transformational leadership and sustainable societal development.
