RULAAC to sue FG over absence of Southeast representatives in key agencies

Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) is considering legal action against the Federal Government over the absence of representatives from the Southeast region in key government agencies.

The decision comes amid allegations of marginalization and human rights abuses in the region.

According to the RULAAC’s Executive Director, Com. Okechukwu Nwanguma, the notable absence of Southeast representation on key government bodies, such as the Population Commission Board, reflects a broader pattern of exclusion compounded by the inaction of their political leaders.

“This has resulted in deep frustration among our populace. In light of these concerns, I urged civil society organizations (CSOs) to consider potential legal actions. This proactive measure aims to hold the federal government accountable for practices that continue to marginalize our region.

“Equally important is the need to mobilize the Southeast electorate. By recognizing our collective power, we can demand greater accountability from our leaders and advocate effectively for our interests, creating necessary pressure for meaningful change.

“Engagement with CSOs, traditional leaders, and more assertive political representatives will amplify our voices and efforts in this regard,” he emphasized.

He further said that the key question they must address is, *How do we foster a culture of active citizenship and demand transparency from our elected officials?* This dialogue is essential for reshaping the political landscape and ensuring that the concerns of the Southeast are prioritized.

“Let us take this conversation seriously and begin to organize for action. Together, we can effect change!”, he stressed.
