PWAN Group denies fraud claims, describes allegations as baseless

Property World Africa Network (PWAN), Nigeria’s premier real estate conglomerate, has issued a strong rebuttal to recent fraud allegations, dismissing them as baseless and unfounded.

Managing Director of PWAN RUBY, Ambassador Bright Ezebuiro, vigorously defended the company’s integrity, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and ethical business practices.

This follows a baseless claim published by a local newspaper based in Akwa Ibom, which accused PWAN of defrauding an individual, Anthony Edem, of N30 million—allegedly for land that was never allocated.

The ill-considered report has not only tarnished the reputation of PWAN but also reflected a blatant disregard for journalistic ethics.

It seems the reporter, in a hasty attempt to sensationalize, chose to ignore the fundamental principle of balanced reporting by failing to seek a response from PWAN before rushing to print.

This kind of oversight not only compromises the integrity of the publication but also raises serious questions about the motives behind such an unsubstantiated attack.

Explaining the circumstances, Ambassador Ezebuiro asserted, “Our attention has been drawn to the falsehoods deliberately propagated in the January 3rd edition of The Ink Portal. Unfortunately, the reporter exhibited a dire lack of journalistic rigor and ethical responsibility, opting instead to cater to certain interests while maligning our organization.”

Ezebuiro further clarified the details surrounding Anthony Edem’s purchase of land. Contrary to Edem’s assertions, both he and his associates did receive their plot allocations, which they later rejected due to concerns about flooding from a nearby drainage system. Recognizing the need for client satisfaction, PWAN took it upon itself to secure an alternative property, which was completed in November 2024, with plans for physical allocation set for early 2025.

The Ink Portal’s decision to run a cover story titled “PWAN: A Company of Fraud” on such flimsy grounds is not only defamatory but also reveals an alarming trend in media practices where sensationalism takes precedence over the truth.

Such allegations have the power to cause irreparable damage, and responsible journalism must avoid reckless claims that could mislead and confuse the public.

Recently, PWAN invited Mr. Edem for his physical allocation on February 6.
This is a clear show of PWAN ‘s commitment to transparency and meeting its obligation.

But Mr Edem’s response via his email appeared again to be foot-dragging, heaping hurdles to the simple concern of coming to take possession of his physical allocation.

In an email response recently, he questioned the process, stating that his lawyer would represent him, the matter already being before the court.

Furthermore, he insisted that Mrs. Stella, one of his clients, must also receive her allocation.

However, physical allocation notification letters for both Mr. Edem and his clients, including Mrs. Stella, have been verified.

We categorically deny Mr. Edem’s allegations and view his actions as a blatant attempt to tarnish PWAN. We will vigorously defend our reputation and pursue all available remedies to protect our interests.
