Police recover three motorcycles, arrest six suspects in Kalgo operation

Kebbi State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against motorcycle snatching, arresting four suspected motorcycle snatchers and two receivers of stolen property.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Kebbi State Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, sometime in August 2025, one Aminu Umar of Al’amin Villa Kalgo, reported at the Divisional police headquarters, Kalgo, that he reasonably suspected the following persons, namely: Tirmizi Tukur, 2 Abubakar Lauwali, 3 Mudassiru Danbala and 4 Ibrahim Sani, all males, to have conspired and stolen his missing unregistered Haijue motorcycle, black in colour.

Acting on credible intelligence, a team of Policemen attached to the Divisional police headquarters, kalgo, successfully raided a suspected criminal hideout and arrested the suspects. During the operation, two red unregistered Bajaj motorcycles were recovered. When interrogated, the suspects confessed to having stolen the motorcycles from Kajiji village, Tambuwal LGA of Sokoto State.

Similarly, two receivers of stolen property, one Samaila Abubakar and Isah Muhammad, all m of Tambuwal town, Sokoto State, were also arrested in connection with the case. Additionally, one red Bajaj motorcycle was also recovered during the operation.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation with a view to unraveling their modus operandi and arresting the remaining members of the syndicate for diligent prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, had applauded the professionalism adopted by the DPO Kalgo in arresting the suspects, and reiterated the Command’s determination on its sustained onslaught against violent crimes, with a view to ensuring a safe and secure environment for socio-economic activities to thrive in the state.

CP Bello M Sani hereby called on the motorcyclists to be wary of time, location and the type of people they carry in conducting their daily business.
