Police raid suspects’ hideout in Mushin, recover 25 phones, gold jewellery, cutlasses

Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of an alleged armed robbery syndicate operating around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of the state.

The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following what the Police described as credible intelligence and sustained intelligence gathering.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the suspects are Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24.

The Police said the suspects were arrested at their hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos State.

A search of the hideout allegedly led to the recovery of 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, a gold necklace, gold earrings and three cutlasses.

The Command said the suspects are currently in Police custody and are assisting investigators with the ongoing investigation.

It added that efforts were being intensified to apprehend other alleged members of the syndicate who may be connected with the criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives of the VCRU for what he described as their swift response and intelligence-led investigation that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across Lagos State and ensuring the safety and security of residents.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the Police.
