Otti inaugurates new Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, board members

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has sworn in 4 new Special Advisers to the Governor and 9 Permanent Secretaries into the State Civil Service.

The inauguration ceremony, which took place in Government House, Umuahia, marked a significant milestone in Otti’s administration.

Governor Otti emphasized that his government has been assembling visionary individuals to assist in delivering on his mandate.

He noted that in the last 18 months, his government has achieved set goals, and the new appointees are expected to contribute to the state’s development.

The Governor disclosed that the selection process for the Permanent Secretaries was rigorous, involving exams and interviews for eligible Directors.

Out of 150 applicants, 32 scored 50% and above, and the first 9, including a non-Abian, were selected to fill existing vacancies in the civil service.

Otti emphasized that his government prioritizes results over state or local government area of origin.

He urged the appointees to imbibe excellence in their service delivery, stressing that the government is committed to working with relevant stakeholders to address social vices, including drug abuse.

The newly inaugurated officials include, Permanent Secretaries, are Mrs. Chibuzo Ehiemere, Mrs. Jane Ngarasi, Mr. Ihemanma Okechukwu, Mrs. Ekeoma Chigozie, Mrs. Ekaite Eyo Oha, Mr. Ejikeme Emmanuel Ekwueme, Mrs. Jane Olanma Awa, Mr. Chinyere Juliet Okeziem, and Ukandu Adaojie Obinma.

Abia State Drug Control Committee, Chairman, Mrs. Priscilla Otti; Secretary of State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu; Commissioners, including Prince Okey Kanu; and stakeholders from relevant agencies and NGOs.
