Olukoya marks birthday, one year in office, gives gifts to petty traders

It was a double celebration on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at the Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa Constituency Office, Alaagba, Orile-Agege LCDA, as Hon. Temitope Aminat Tele Olukoya marked her birthday and one year in office with constituents.

The celebration attracted party members, political associates, friends, market women, residents and other supporters of Olukoya, who represents Ward E, Orile-Agege LCDA.

The event was marked with prayers, goodwill messages, entertainment and the presentation of gifts to members of the constituency.

Speaking with journalists at the venue, Mr Abdulfatai Olagoke Ajibola, Special Adviser to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, on Legislative Matters, congratulated Olukoya on her achievements in office.

Ajibola described Olukoya as a record breaker, being the first female councillor in the history of Orile-Agege LCDA.

He commended her resilience, courage and commitment to political participation and community service, describing her emergence as an encouragement to women seeking elective positions.

The special adviser wished her success throughout her tenure and in any future elective position she might aspire to occupy.

Ajibola also urged constituents to continue supporting Olukoya and Obasa, who, he said, were preparing to contest for a Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

He further appealed to Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, arguing that the administration should be given sufficient time to consolidate its policies and programmes.

According to him, development cannot be achieved overnight, urging citizens to remain patient with the Federal Government as it implements its agenda.

‘Olukoya has paid her dues’

Another APC chieftain, Alhaji Adewale Siliki, also congratulated the celebrant and commended her contributions to the development and welfare of members of her constituency.

Siliki said Olukoya had “paid her dues” politically and had contributed to the welfare of both men and women in the constituency even before she was elected councillor.

He prayed for her continued progress and success in politics and other areas of life.

The supervisor also advised party members against desperation for elective positions, saying political opportunities should be pursued with loyalty, patience and commitment.

He said he would not struggle or become desperate for elective office, expressing confidence that his time would come according to the will of Allah.

He urged party members to remain loyal and focused until their political aspirations were realised.

Olukoya appreciates constituents, Obasa

In her remarks, Olukoya expressed appreciation to her constituents for the support they gave her before and after the election, saying their support contributed significantly to her emergence as the first female councillor in the history of Orile-Agege LCDA.

She also expressed gratitude to her political mentor, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, for believing in her and providing support throughout her political journey.

The councillor said her emergence was a demonstration of God’s grace, noting that several other women had also aspired to the position.

She promised not to disappoint Obasa, whom she described as her political icon, for the confidence and support he had shown her since she joined the party.

Olukoya also encouraged women interested in politics not to give up despite the challenges they may encounter.

She described herself as a testimony of God’s grace and an example of what women can achieve through perseverance, courage and determination.

Gifts for constituents

As part of activities marking the occasion, gift items worth ₦20,000 were presented to some petty-trader women among the constituents.

Additional cartons of gift items were also packaged and distributed to other constituents at the venue.

The celebrant said the gesture was part of her appreciation for the people who had supported her throughout her first year in office.

She urged women across the constituency to remain committed to their political aspirations and continue working towards greater participation in governance.

Olukoya also called on constituents to remain peaceful and participate actively in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.

She concluded by thanking party members, constituents, friends and supporters for honouring her birthday and first anniversary in office, while expressing hope for greater achievements in the years ahead.
