OHS 1989 Alumni host inaugural reunion: Focus on growth, progress, school development

All arrangements have been concluded for the maiden reunion programme of the 1989 set of Olubadan High School, Aperin, Ibadan, scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Reunion Planning Committee, Sir ’Tunde Babalola JP, the event is designed to reflect the school anthem’s charge: “Pass on the torch, pass on the learning.”

He noted that the gathering aims to “build where we have laid,” appreciate the contributions of other graduating sets and the National Alumni body, and continue working toward the school’s long-envisioned greater heights.

The Co-Chairmen of the Planning Committee, Pastor Prof. Durodola Olujide and ACP Abiodun Bakare, explained that the maiden reunion will provide members of the 1989 class an opportunity to reconnect, socialize, and collectively deliberate on ways to support their alma mater.

They expressed concern over the school’s current infrastructural challenges, which they say may hinder effective teaching and learning if not urgently addressed.

With the theme “Together Again for Growth and Progress,” the reunion is scheduled to commence at 11:00 a.m.

A member of the 1985 set of Olubadan High School, Dr. Adekunle Okunola, will deliver a keynote lecture titled: “Building a strong alumni structure, plans for leadership, committees, dues, and communication.”

Adding prestige to the event, the National President of the Olubadan High School Alumni Association, Otunba Idowu Oladunni, and the Immediate Past President, Elder Adeolu, will serve as Guests of Honour.

Sir Babalola further disclosed that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a serene and hitch-free environment as the 1989 set reunites after 36 years.

He wished all alumni traveling from across Nigeria and beyond safe journeys to and from the ancient city of Ibadan.
