Nigerian Army promotes 47 Brigadier General to Major General, 75 Colonels to Brigadier General

Nigerian Army Council has approved the promotion of senior officers to the next ranks of Major General and Brigadier General respectively.

A total of 47 Brigadier Generals was  promoted to the rank of Major General, while 75 Colonels  also  elevated to the rank of Brigadier General accordingly.

According to the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, those promoted  to the rank of Major General include, Commandant Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, Brig Gen WB Etuk; Commandant Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, Brig Gen JE Osifo; Commander Sector 3 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General WM Dangana; Acting Chief of Military Intelligence, Brig Gen  TB Ugiagbe ; Deputy  Director General Land Forces Stimulation Centre Nigeria Operations, Brig Gen ASM Wase; Commandant Depot Nigerian Army, Brig Gen MA Abdullahi; Commander Command Engineering Depot, Brig Gen BI Alaya.

“Director Personnel Planning Army Headquarters Department of personnel Management, Brig Gen  AO Oyelade ; Commandant Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Brig Gen OO Arogundade; Commander 13 Brigade, Brig Gen EI Okoro  ; Executive Director  Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited, Brig Gen CR Nnebeife  ; Director Plans Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans, Brig Gen FU Mijinyawa; Commander 50 Space Command, Brig Gen MT Abdullahi; Commander 32 Brigade, Brig Gen M Adamu ; Commandant Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, Brig Gen ND Shagaya ; Office of the CDS, Brig Gen ME Onoja and Acting Director Psychological Warfare Defence Headquarters, Brig Gen MO Erebulu.

“Equally elevated to the rank of Major General are Commander Army Headquarters Garrison Ordnance Services, Brig Gen BA Ilori; Director Budget Army Headquarters, Brig Gen MO Ihanuwaze; Director Army Public Relations, Brig Gen O Nwachukwu; Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Brig Gen EE Ekpenyong; Director Legal Service (Army), Brig Gen SI Musa; Commander Command Finance Office, Brig Gen M Galadima and Commander 1 Division Ordnance Service, Brig Gen AP Ahmadu.

“Officers promoted from the rank of Colonel to Brigadier General are Chief of Staff Headquarters 3 Brigade, Col Nwakonobi; Commander 41 Engineer Brigade, Col MC Akin Ojo ; Deputy Director Army Headquarters Operations Monitoring Team, Col BM Madaki; Directing Staff Army War College Nigeria, Col MO Edide; Commander 76 ST Brigade, Col KE Inyang; Chief of Staff  Office of the Chief of Army Staff, Col OO Nafiu; Commander Signal Operations Command, Col PA Zipele; Acting Command Guards Brigade, Col OA Onasanya; Deputy Director Department of Civil Military Affairs, Col MI Amatso ; Deputy Director Army Headquarters Department of Army Transformation and Innovation, Col CM Akaliro; Directing Staff Army War College Nigeria, Col NE Okoloagu; Acting Director Special Forces Infantry Corps Centre, Col AS Bugaje; Commander 6 Division Finance and Account, Col AM Kitchner; Deputy Chief of Staff Operations Headquarters 82 Division,  Col SJ Dogo and Commander 32 Brigade Garrison, Col JN Garba, ”he stated.

He further stated that, “Others elevated to the rank of Brigadier General are Commander 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Col PT Gbor; Acting Corps Commander Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Col SO Okoigi  ; Acting Director Chaplaincy (Roman Catholic), Col AF Maimagani ; Headquarters 81 Division, Col PO Alimekhena ; Acting Director Directorate of Dental Services Headquarters Nigerian Army medical Corps, Col BI George, Headquarters 63 Brigade, Col IB Gambari and Participant Senior Executive Course 45 National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Col AY Emekoma.

“The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja congratulated the newly promoted senior officers and their families. He has also charged them to redouble their efforts to justify their elevation and the confidence reposed in them”, he said.
