Commander Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC) Brigadier General MI Amatso has said that Nigerian Army female personnel of the command are not taking the back seat but rather they are stepping forward effectively and proving themselves operationally and professionally in the Nigerian Army’s effort towards tackling security challenges in the country.
According to the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Women Command, Lieutenant Maureen David Ogbuka, the Commander stated this during a courtesy visit by the Ag CO 167 Special Forces Battalion.
In his remarks during the reception, the Commander NAWC Brig Gen MI Amatso expressed his appreciation for the visit while noting the importance of cooperation in fostering esprit-de-corps and team spirit among personnel.
He commended the CO 167 SF Bn for various successes achieved by his unit in their operations.
He also pledged the continuous support of the NAWC to 167 SF Bn whenever the need arises. Gen Amatso then thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for creating a Command that is women-oriented which provides an opportunity for women in the NA to harness their potential and showcase their capabilities in the line of duty.
In his remarks, the Ag Commanding Officer 167 Special Forces Battalion, Major SS Jatau congratulated the Commander on his well-deserved appointment as the Commander Nigerian Army Women Command.
He also thanked the Commander for the warm reception and applauded the active roles of NAWC in NA activities.
He also stated that he was at the command for a familiarization visit to acquaint the Comd with the activities of the Battalion as well as expressed their readiness to respond to any distress calls at short notice.
Highlights of the visit were the signing of visitor book, exchange of souvenirs and group photograph.
