Need to elect competent Representatives, Senate leaders in Edo State, Nigeria henceforth

The Legislative arm of government which is unarguably In charge of making Laws that would help guide the actions of the citizenry in any democratic clime should never be left in the hands of silent leaders who cannot even muster the courage to speak for their Constituencies nor sponsor bills that would help transform their respective societies because such persons are usually all about their selfish interests.

The above statement of fact should be taken with all elements of seriousness during electioneering periods when the people in the grassroots usually come out en masse to elect their Senators and representatives whose duty is to effectively represent their constituents, speak for the masses from their constituencies, enact and make laws that would alleviate the sufferings of their people while continuously carrying out projects that would, in turn, trickle down Democratic dividends to these constituencies.

Having established this fact, it is very sad to say that we have not had such federal representatives and Senators from Edo State in a while now due to the self-centered nature of such lawmakers who have not in any reasonable way led by example.

This is because we hardly see them sponsoring utilitarian bills that would undeniably favour their people on the floor of the house, nor do they carry out meaningful Constituency projects that could help to cushion the harsh economic effects of the depressed state of the Nigerian economy which could also be directly traced to the failure of Her Leadership at virtually all levels.

Recently, an estate that is located in the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, which belongs to Late Paul Osakpamwan Ogbebor a.k.a “Paul Osa” had its licence revoked by the current FCT Minster Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for an unconvincing reason which appears to be rather vague than helpful to the Constituents residing in such vicinity.

This is because it was discovered that the property was legally acquired by the late Paul Osa before his demise but the powers that be in Nigeria decided to use their influence to acquire such property at the detriment of not just the Family of the late owner but generally, Edolites because there are Three (3) Senators representing Edo State, yet none of them could even speak on the matter because they do not care about the outcome, especially as it does not concern their party member at the Federal Level.

It took only the courage, wisdom, and integrity of Distinguished Senator Ireti, the Senator representing the FCT-Abuja, and Senator Natasha from Kogi West to Speak on the issue which bothered Sanity, as the residents in Abuja can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed without either being Harassed, intimidated or oppressed by the current Hostile FCT Minster whose recent decision to revoke Paulosa’s Estate Licence should have been greatly condemned, resisted and spoken against by Our 3 Senators representing us in Edo State. Rather, they all decided to play the Ostrich and kept silent over a very salient issue bothering the property that belonged to their Fellow Edo Man.

In the Words of Shakespeare, “What a Rash and Bloody Deed” from the FCT-Minister whose controversial efforts have been further consolidated by Our Mute Senators, especially the Dumbest one representing us from Edo South, who up till now is yet to either sponsor any useful bill or carryout any impactful and People Oriented Constituency Project since he became a Senator from 2023 till date.

The same blame goes to our House of Representatives Members who should have reached out to their colleagues both at the Lower Chambers and Senators at the Upper Chambers in the National Assembly to look into such matters. Instead, they all kept silent as well, and this pitiable trend must not continue if we are to move forward as a People both in Edo State and Nigeria respectively.

This is why I enjoin Our People to carefully elect the Representatives and Senators who would speak for them and be accountable to them in their various constituencies instead of those who buy their way into these positions and blatantly neglect the masses in the end by focusing only on their selfish interests instead of Putting their People and Constituencies first.

We should start electing young, pragmatic, vibrant, and sincere leaders that we can easily hold accountable and not those who may not even be able to Speak for the masses, let alone fight for their interests and human rights.

To this end, we should checkmate these persons carefully before we vote for them and when they fail to perform, there should be no second chance for such persons because it only shows that they went there just to collect their seating allowances, pass their budgets in full, buy big cars, fly private jets, go on expensive tours, vacations and ECEN medical treatment with their families and colleagues abroad while brazenly disappointing their constitutions due to their greedy and self-centered nature.

These legislative musketeers and parliamentary rascals representing us in Edo State should either resign or not just bother to contest in 2027 because the Edo people are now wiser than they think.

Conclusively, in 2025, kindly vote for your representatives and senators wisely, while in 2027, be more careful with your vote for the right leader who would help transform and move the Federal Republic of Nigeria forward for the prosperity of all Nigerians and not that of a few individuals.

In all of these, I make bold to say that Nigeria can only be great with only the right credible leadership that is service inclined to the masses and one that is not tied to the corrupt apron-strings of the cabals which have destroyed the fabrics of democracy and dashed the hopes of so many Nigerians to the wall but God will help us if we choose to help ourselves in turn.
