NCDMB, Stowpoint empower 50 Edo youths with refrigeration, AC repair skills

Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with Stowpoint Services Limited, has successfully concluded a vocational training and empowerment programme on refrigeration and air conditioning repair for 50 youths in Edo State.

The two-week intensive training programme, held in Benin City, was designed to equip participants with practical technical skills in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

The initiative forms part of efforts to promote local capacity development and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for young Nigerians.

Participants received hands-on training covering installation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

The programme also exposed the trainees to industry best practices aimed at improving their technical competence and preparing them for employment opportunities within the energy and services sector.

Speaking at the closing and handover ceremony, the representative of Stowpoint Services Limited, Mrs. Chioma Okafor, commended the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board for the initiative, describing it as a strategic intervention that would empower youths with valuable skills needed in today’s economy.

Okafor noted that programmes of this nature play a crucial role in reducing unemployment and encouraging entrepreneurship among young people.

According to her, by providing participants with practical knowledge and technical expertise, the initiative would enable them to either secure employment or establish their own small-scale businesses in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector.

She further emphasized that strengthening local capacity through vocational training aligns with national efforts to develop indigenous expertise and enhance participation of Nigerians in key sectors of the economy.

Beneficiaries of the programme expressed appreciation to the organisers for the opportunity, stating that the training had equipped them with valuable skills that would improve their chances of earning a sustainable income.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board has continued to implement programmes aimed at promoting skills acquisition, youth empowerment and local content development across different states of the federation.

Through partnerships with private sector organisations such as Stowpoint Services Limited, the board seeks to expand opportunities for Nigerians to acquire practical skills that support economic growth and self-reliance.
