Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with AFN Global Services Limited, has trained 50 beneficiaries in Anambra State on Quality Auditing and ISO Certification as part of efforts to strengthen local capacity and improve the competitiveness of Nigerian businesses.

The five-day training programme, which was held from August 3 to August 7, 2026, in Awka, provided participants with practical knowledge and professional skills required to understand, implement, audit and maintain quality management systems in line with internationally recognised standards.

The initiative forms part of NCDMB’s ongoing efforts to deepen Nigerian Content development by equipping Nigerians with relevant technical and professional skills that can enhance their participation in critical sectors of the economy.

At the conclusion of the programme, a representative of NCDMB was present at the training venue to formally hand over certificates to the participants. The representative also charged the beneficiaries to put the knowledge and skills acquired during the training into practical use in their workplaces, businesses and communities.

Speaking during the programme, the NCDMB representative explained that the training was in line with the Board’s mandate to develop indigenous human capacity and ensure that Nigerians are adequately equipped to meet the requirements of local and international industries.

According to the representative, knowledge of quality auditing and ISO standards has become increasingly important for businesses seeking to remain competitive, improve their operational processes and gain access to opportunities in the oil and gas industry and other highly regulated sectors.

The representative urged the beneficiaries not to regard the certificates as the end of the learning process, but as an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained to improve standards and contribute to the development of businesses and organisations around them.

The training was facilitated by AFN Global Services Limited, the technical partner for the programme, which exposed participants to both theoretical and practical aspects of quality management and ISO certification.

During the sessions, participants were trained on quality management systems, internal auditing procedures, documentation, regulatory compliance and the processes involved in preparing organisations for ISO certification.

The beneficiaries also received practical guidance on how to identify gaps in organisational processes, develop appropriate documentation, monitor compliance and support organisations in establishing systems capable of meeting recognised quality standards.

The training further focused on the importance of maintaining quality management systems after certification, with participants learning how organisations can continuously improve their processes, enhance efficiency, reduce operational risks and strengthen customer confidence.

The emphasis on practical application was particularly significant as participants were equipped with skills that can be deployed across different sectors, including manufacturing, oil and gas, construction, services, consulting and other regulated industries.

Participants at the programme expressed appreciation to NCDMB and AFN Global Services Limited for providing them with the opportunity to acquire the specialised knowledge.
Some of the beneficiaries said the training had broadened their understanding of quality management and auditing and would enable them to support organisations seeking to achieve and sustain ISO certification.

They also noted that the knowledge acquired could open new professional opportunities for them as quality auditors, management system consultants and compliance professionals.

The programme is expected to contribute to the development of a pool of trained professionals capable of helping Nigerian businesses improve their internal systems and meet international standards.

For businesses, compliance with recognised quality standards can enhance operational efficiency, improve customer confidence, strengthen market access and position them to compete more effectively for contracts and opportunities.

The collaboration between NCDMB and AFN Global Services Limited also underscores the importance of partnerships between government agencies and indigenous companies in delivering targeted skills-development initiatives.

NCDMB has continued to emphasise human capital development as a critical component of Nigerian Content, particularly through programmes designed to equip Nigerians with industry-relevant skills and improve their capacity to participate meaningfully in the economy.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to working with indigenous organisations and technical partners to implement programmes that promote skills acquisition, create employment opportunities, strengthen professional capacity and improve the competitiveness of Nigerian businesses.

With the successful completion of the five-day programme, the 50 beneficiaries are expected to deploy their newly acquired skills to support improved quality management practices within their respective organisations and contribute to the wider development of standards-driven businesses in Nigeria.

The initiative, therefore, represents another step towards building a workforce capable of meeting global professional standards while strengthening the capacity of indigenous businesses to compete effectively both within Nigeria and in the international marketplace.
