50 Lagos youths acquire fire alarm, access control technology skills through NCDMB programme

Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with OMAROG NIGERIA LIMITED, has completed a five-day intensive training programme designed to equip 50 youths in Lagos State with practical skills in Fire Alarm and Access Control Technology.

The training, which was held from August 3 to August 7, 2026, formed part of efforts to develop the capacity of young Nigerians and prepare them for employment, entrepreneurship and other opportunities in technical and emerging areas of the economy.

The programme focused on two critical areas of modern building safety and security infrastructure — fire alarm systems and electronic access control technology.

Through a combination of theoretical lessons and practical, hands-on sessions, the beneficiaries were exposed to the fundamentals and applications of modern fire detection, alarm and access control systems.

The technical sessions, facilitated by OMAROG NIGERIA LIMITED, covered the installation, configuration, programming, troubleshooting and maintenance of fire alarm systems and electronic access control solutions.

Participants were also trained on the proper handling and deployment of relevant equipment, with emphasis on safety, reliability and compliance with applicable industry standards.

Beyond technical knowledge, the programme sought to enhance the beneficiaries’ readiness for the labour market by exposing them to practical workplace requirements and the skills needed to operate effectively in professional environments.

The beneficiaries were encouraged to view the training not only as an opportunity to acquire technical competence but also as a pathway towards self-employment and business development.
