Freedom Foundation celebrates Genesis House graduates, seeks greater support for women’s rehabilitation

Freedom Foundation Nigeria has celebrated the graduation of the 2025/2026 cohort of beneficiaries from its Genesis House rehabilitation and reintegration programme, while appealing to individuals, corporate organisations, donors and volunteers to continue supporting its mission of restoring hope and transforming the lives of vulnerable young women.

The graduation ceremony, held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at The Verandah Lounge, The Dome, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, brought together government representatives, development partners, faith leaders, volunteers, donors, family members and well-wishers to celebrate the remarkable journeys of the graduating beneficiaries.

The event also recognised the invaluable contributions of partner organisations, which were presented with certificates of participation in appreciation of their commitment to the success of the programme.

Speaking during the ceremony, Executive Director of Freedom Foundation Nigeria, Chidi Koldsweat, expressed gratitude to the extensive network of partners and supporters whose generosity has enabled Genesis House to continue offering life-changing interventions for vulnerable women.

He stressed that the achievements recorded by the graduating cohort would not have been possible without the commitment of donors, volunteers and development partners who have remained steadfast in supporting the Foundation’s mission.

“None of this happens without the partners, volunteers and donors who believe in what Genesis House represents. As we celebrate this cohort, we are also looking ahead to the women who will walk through Genesis House’s doors next, and we invite Nigerians to walk that journey with us,” Koldsweat said.

Chairperson of Genesis House, Mrs. Toyin Bakare, reiterated the vision behind the establishment of the rehabilitation centre, noting that every vulnerable woman deserves an opportunity to rebuild her life in a safe and supportive environment.

“Every woman deserves a safe place to begin again,” she said.

Also speaking, Programme Manager of Genesis House, Dolapo Ojo-Adetuyi, described each graduation ceremony as a celebration of resilience, healing and renewed purpose.

According to her, the programme goes beyond helping women recover from difficult experiences by equipping them with the skills, confidence and support needed to successfully reintegrate into society.

“Every graduation reminds us that healing is possible when women are given safety, dignity, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. At Genesis House, we don’t just celebrate recovery; we celebrate restored hope, renewed purpose, and the community that makes transformation possible,” she stated.
Freedom Foundation Nigeria noted that since its establishment in 2001 by Pastor/Dr. Tony Rapu, the organisation has remained committed to helping vulnerable individuals transition from crisis to stability through rehabilitation, education, youth empowerment and community support initiatives.

Over the past two decades, the Foundation said it has impacted more than 20,000 beneficiaries across Nigeria through various intervention programmes designed to restore dignity and create sustainable opportunities for disadvantaged persons.

Genesis House, one of the Foundation’s flagship initiatives, serves as a residential rehabilitation and reintegration centre for vulnerable young women, providing psychosocial support, vocational training, business starter packs and after-care services aimed at helping beneficiaries rebuild independent and productive lives.

The Foundation explained that the continued success of Genesis House depends largely on the generosity of donors, corporate organisations, volunteers and other partners who contribute resources, expertise and mentorship to sustain the programme.

As preparations begin for future cohorts, Freedom Foundation renewed its appeal to Nigerians, corporate bodies, philanthropic organisations and development partners to join its efforts in expanding access to rehabilitation and reintegration services for vulnerable women.

The Foundation encouraged individuals and organisations interested in partnering, volunteering or supporting Genesis House to reach out through its official communication channels, reaffirming that collective action remains critical to restoring lives and building stronger communities.

Freedom Foundation maintained that with sustained community support, Genesis House will continue to offer vulnerable young women a fresh start, renewed hope and the opportunity to become self-reliant members of society.
