FiBOP holds youth capacity building conference as students prepare for AI Masterclass on June 4

Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP) has announced that all arrangements have been concluded for the successful hosting of the third edition of its Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment Programme for Senior Secondary School students in Lagos State.

The conference, themed “Digital Skills, Artificial Intelligence, Online Safety, Insurance and Financial Literacy for Nigerian Youth,” is scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.
The programme is expected to attract hundreds of students, educators, policymakers, technology experts, insurance professionals, financial literacy advocates and other stakeholders committed to preparing young Nigerians for opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital economy.

A key highlight of this year’s event will be a special Artificial Intelligence (AI) Masterclass, which will be facilitated by a leading AI specialist. The session is designed to expose participants to emerging AI technologies, practical applications of artificial intelligence, career opportunities within the sector and the critical skills required to succeed in a technology-driven future.

Speaking ahead of the conference, FiBOP President, Charles Onwuatogwu said the association remains focused on equipping young Nigerians with the knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in an increasingly competitive global environment.

According to him, the programme is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experiences by providing students with direct access to industry leaders and professionals.

“This initiative goes beyond classroom learning. It is about creating opportunities for students to interact directly with industry leaders and experts shaping the future of technology, insurance, finance and business. We are delighted that everything is now in place for what promises to be another impactful edition of the programme,” Onwuatogwu said.

Also speaking on preparations for the event, the Head of the Organising Committee, Barnabas Esiet, expressed confidence in the readiness of the organisers and partners to deliver a successful and impactful programme.

Esiet noted that all logistics and programme arrangements had been finalised, assuring participants of a rich learning experience that would equip them with relevant knowledge for future careers and entrepreneurial pursuits.

“We are pleased to announce that all logistics and programme arrangements have been finalized. The AI Masterclass, alongside sessions on digital skills, online safety, insurance and financial literacy, will provide participants with valuable knowledge and inspiration as they prepare for the future workplace and entrepreneurial opportunities,” he said.
Beyond the AI-focused sessions, the conference will feature lectures, interactive discussions and mentorship engagements led by industry professionals, policymakers and government officials. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with experts across various sectors, gaining valuable insights into career development, responsible digital citizenship and financial management.

The organisers disclosed that the programme will also host notable government representatives, including the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Lagos State, who is expected to engage participants on the importance of education and skills development in today’s knowledge-driven economy.

Now in its third year, the FiBOP Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment Programme has become one of the association’s flagship initiatives aimed at promoting digital literacy, financial inclusion and youth empowerment across Nigeria.

The initiative seeks to equip students with practical life skills while connecting them with industry experts, mentors and public sector leaders who can guide them toward productive and successful careers.
