Foundation for Environmental Rights Advocacy and Development (FENRAD), hasĀ  called on the Abia State Government to engage with civil society organizations and other stakeholders ahead of the planned nationwide protests.

According to the Executive Director,
Foundation for Environmental Rights Advocacy and Development (FENRAD), Comrade Nelson Nnanna Nwafor, this proactive measure is essential to ensure peace, stability, and constructive dialogue within the state.

Following the commendable example set by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos State, who recently met with civil society and self-determination groups to discuss the need for peace, FENRAD urges the Abia State Government to adopt a similar approach.

Engagement with civil actors will provide a platform for addressing concerns and finding common ground on pressing issues.

Comrade Nelson Nnanna Nwafor, Chief Executive Officer of FENRAD, stated, “We believe that open dialogue between the government and civil society is crucial in maintaining peace and order during times of heightened tension. The planned nationwide protests reflect the genuine concerns of the people, and it is only through constructive engagement that these concerns can be addressed effectively.”

FENRAD is committed to advocating for environmental and social justice and stands ready to support efforts that promote peace and inclusivity. We urge the Abia State Government to take immediate steps to engage with civil society organizations, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.

This will not only foster a peaceful environment but also demonstrate a commitment to listening to and addressing the needs of the citizens.
