Enterprise Lab NYSC edition empowers young entrepreneurs, strengthens drive for innovation, job creation

In a bold step toward nurturing Nigeria’s next generation of business leaders, the Enterprise Lab NYSC Edition equipped young entrepreneurs with intensive training, practical guidance, and startup support designed to accelerate innovation and boost job creation.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor On Wealth Creation and Employment, Lagos State, Amb. Comr. Tijani Saheed Oluwadare (Seedorf), the ripple effects of their actions often extend farther than we imagine, touching lives, inspiring change, and strengthening communities.

The truth was powerfully reflected during engagement with a vibrant cohort of innovative startup entrepreneurs at the recent Enterprise Lab: National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Edition, organized in collaboration with the Enterprise Growth and Opportunities (EGO) Foundation, a leading social impact organization led by its visionary Executive Director, Mr. Toluwase Olaniyan.

Following a highly competitive selection process that reviewed over 100 applications from across Nigeria, thirty (30) promising young entrepreneurs were chosen to participate in this transformational program.

Over the course of the training, participants received in-depth mentorship across key areas of enterprise development—financial management, marketing strategies, business structuring, and effective pitching techniques.

The program culminated in a pitch session where the top three entrepreneurs received grants to move their ventures forward, giving them both the confidence and the capital needed to scale their ideas into sustainable businesses.

Beyond the formal sessions, the gathering created a fertile environment for meaningful dialogue. Participants exchanged ideas, shared real-world challenges, and built connections with fellow founders who, like them, are striving to make meaningful contributions in their sectors. The atmosphere was one of collaboration, creativity, and shared purpose.

During his address, Oluwadare (Seedorf), he introduced participants to the Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, highlighting its mandate, mission, and ongoing initiatives crafted to support entrepreneurship and drive economic empowerment.

“I placed special emphasis on the Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP)—a strategic intervention designed to equip graduates with practical work experience that enhances their employability and career readiness.

“As I encouraged these budding entrepreneurs to stay committed to excellence, I also cautioned them against the bandwagon effect, urging them instead to focus on delivering quality, consistency, and innovative solutions. Long-term success, I reminded them, is built on staying true to their vision while meeting the needs of their target communities,” he stressed.

He further explained that the experience reinforced his belief that government cannot act alone.

“When private organizations, social impact institutions, and public stakeholders collaborate—as demonstrated by the EGO Foundation and NYSC—the nation has a greater chance of combating unemployment, reducing poverty, and discouraging dependence on white-collar jobs.

“The Enterprise Lab NYSC Edition is more than a program; it is a catalyst for change, an investment in the future, and a testament to what is possible when young Nigerians are given the tools, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive,” he explained.
